[/toggle] [/accordion] [accordion] [toggle title="Read about Winter Solstice Despacho Ceremony" state="closed"]

The tradition of Despacho is a beautiful shamanic ceremony performed by to this day by the Qero Indians, the largest native population of Peru. In a Despacho Ceremony the shaman creates an offering of thanks to Pachamamma (Mother Earth) from flowers, herbs and sweets. These are intricately arranged on white paper while being infused with light energy. Finally the despacho is bundled up and burned. Despachos are commonly used to bring blessings and to carry prayers. Those in attendance blow their prayers into leaves or flowers which are added to the despacho as it is being made. These prayers are then sent into the spirit realm when the despacho is burned by the shaman. 4 despachos will be created simultaneously, one for each direction, by instructors and senior apprentices from Green Tara College for Shamanic Studies.

[accordion][toggle title="About MAJELLA & BRENT from Green Tara College for Shamanic Studies" state="closed"]

Green Tara College for Shamanic Studies is based in Navan, Co. Meath. Focused on working with the sacred sites of Ireland, the school fuses teachings from around the world. The ethos of the training is “creative shamanism,” in which each individual is encouraged to source the ‘shaman within’. At advanced levels, the college’s shamanic teaching sources directly from the Qero Indians of the Peruvian Andes, with whom the senior instructors, Majella Fagan and Brent Owen, study.

Majella Fagan is the founder of Green Tara College. Majella is a Celtic Irish Shaman who has trained with many world traditions. Majella holds a BSc in Psychology, BA Drama and counselling qualifications and is a graduate of Alberto Villoldo’s Four Winds School of Shamanism. Majella works as a healer, teacher and writer. Majella has facilitated deep personal training in creative shamanism for over twenty years, including core, Celtic, Peruvian, sweat lodge, palliative care and soul retrieval.

Brent Owen is a Paco (shaman) in the native tradition of the Qero Indians of Peru. With over 30 year’s training, Brent is a powerful psychic and shaman. For the last 9 years, he has studied despacho under the revered Qero shaman, Don Sebastian Apaza. He has received from Don Sebastian the three lightning initiations which qualify him as a Paco amongst the Qero. Brent has been charged by Don Sebastian to bring the teachings of Qero shamanism to Ireland and to offer the lightning initiations. Brent has recently returned from Peru where he worked with Don Juan Nunez del Prado and senior Qero pacos to reawaken the guardian spirits of Machu Picchu and Cuzco, asleep since the fall of the Inka Empire. While in Peru he was initiated as an Altomesaoq, one who works with the spirits of the mountains (“Apus”), by Don Eduardo Quispe.

Brent and Majella will be assisted by senior apprentices from Green Tara College, who have all received their first lightning initiation and are already powerful shamans.
